Garry Payne, Director of Planning & Regeneration at Wyre Borough Council, did the honours at the meeting last week and introduced Wyred Up to the huge business audience who had come along to hear about how education and training could help them and their bottom line.
Ann Turner, the Principal of Myerscough College was the first speaker and introduced the group to the specialised education and training that they offer at their rural campus at Bilsborough.
Sara Gaskell, the Business Development Manager from Beneast Training was the next speaker, talking about the range of vocational opportunities on offer through Beneast.
Wyre's Youth Mayor, James McConnachie, gave a very impressive performance and spoke about how young people see the economy, and how they expect to link in to training and education opportunities in order to develop their own careers.
The Operations Manager from Fylde & Wyre Transition Group is Veronica Myers and she spoke about their role in providing advice, guidance and opportunities to young people all over Lancashire.
Last, but by no means least, Pauline Waterhouse, the Principal of Blackpool & the Fylde College, gave a quick guided tour of the establishment and its wide range of provision at all levels from vocational right through to degree level.

The educational speakers were intersperced with members of the audience - businesses ho had volunteered to make a one minute business pitch to introduce themselves and their services to the assembled audience of well over 100 captive business people! One minute is actually a long time to fill and many of them didn't manage to use all their time!
The last quick presentation came from Jane Littlewood who introduced this new website and asked for all agencies and businesses to come forward with material to contribute and add to this growing resource to help Wyre businesses to succeed.
Wyred Up quarterly network meetings are attended by people from businesses all over the Borough and from all kinds of different backgrounds. Well over 100 businesses can be found at each event, and it's not the same faces each time, with a majority of new attendees coming to each event.
