Wyred Up Event at Garstang Golf Centre and Country Hotel (Best Western Hotel) - 23rd November 2011
Wyred Up events are held at different venues all over Wyre, this event was at Garstang Golf Centre and Country Hotel (Best western Hotel)
The Wyred Up quarterly networking event on 23rd November was held at Garstang Golf Centre and Country Hotel (Best Western Hotel), it was once again a well attended event – with attendees reaching well in excess of 100 companies.
This event was slightly different as there were no guest speakers this time as the Wyred Up Steering group wanted to discuss with the delegates the future of Wyred Up. Mr Charles Yost Head of Regeneration and Assets at Wyre Council explained the history of the funding of Wyred Up. Jane Littlewood Chair of the Wyred Up Steering Group asked the company repreasentative with a show of hands if they would be in favour in principal of a small fee on the door to the events or an annual subscription to name just two of the suggestions. Angela Kershaw Senior Economic Development Office from Wyre Council also explained ways forward for Wyred Up and ways that the brand could continue beyond its current funding which runs out in 2013. A quick show of hand suggested that the majoriy of delegates were pleased with what Wyred Up had achieved and would not want Wyred Up to cease opperating. a more detailed survey has been sent to Wyred Up members to complete for their opinions.
There were no business pitches at this event but everyone had the opportunity to introduce themselves with a brief description of what their company does or produces.
The manager of the venue Chris Wood told the businesses what the Golf Centre could offer local businesses and offered tours of the rooms.
And of course there was plenty of networking opportunities with a Free buffet.
